I’ve been reading through Luke in my personal devotions lately when I came to the famous parable of the lost sheep. We love this story because it shows how God is always on the lookout for those that are far from him. He takes action to leave and go after them! This is a glimpse into God’s love for us.

But I’ve been thinking about something else in this story lately- about what Jesus did after he found the sheep. “And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent” (Luke 15:5-7 NIV)

Jesus called his friends and neighbors to celebrate! He was so excited about this one lost sheep that was found that he threw a party with his friends!

We just came through Valentine’s Day when we think about people we love. It’s always a good time to think about how much we are loved by Jesus. It’s the kind of love that has to be shared with others! The entire community celebrates it together!

He delights in you! Sometimes we forget that he still feels this way about us, even after we’ve been following him for a while. I think of 1 John 3:1 that says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”

Take time this week to enjoy Jesus. Spend time with him and notice how excited he is to be with you!
